ALBA MOON
Frequently Asked Questions Guide
What does a doula do?
A doula provides physical, emotional, and informational support during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. My role is to help you feel confident, empowered, and well-supported through your journey.
How is a doula different from a midwife?
Doulas provide non-medical support, while midwives offer medical care during pregnancy and birth. I do not perform clinical tasks like fetal monitoring or medical interventions.
When should I book a doula?
It's best to book as early as possible in your pregnancy to secure availability. Many clients book between 12-24 weeks, but I take on clients at all stages.
What is included in your doula services?
-Prenatal visits to discuss birth preferences, comfort measures, and preparation.
- Continuous labour and birth support, including emotional reassurance and physical comfort techniques.
- Postpartum visits to provide newborn care tips, feeding support, and emotional support and meals .
- Access to resources, referrals, and ongoing guidance.
What happens at the first prenatal visit?
We'll go over your birth preferences, discuss any concerns, and begin preparing for labour and postpartum. I'll also answer any questions you have.
Can my partner still be involved if I hire a doula?
Absolutely! My goal is to support both you and your partner. I can provide guidance so they feel confident and involved in the process.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes! Payment plans are available. We can discuss options that work best for you.
What happens if I go into labour before my due date?
I am on call for you from 37 weeks until your birth and will make every effort to be there. In the rare event that I am unable to attend due to an emergency or illness, we can discuss alternative options and, where applicable, a refund for any unused services.
What if I have a C-section?
Whether planned or unplanned, I can still offer support before, during, and after your C-section. We can discuss ways to ensure you feel empowered in your birth experience.
What is your cancellation and refund policy?
- The deposit is non-refundable as it secures my availability.
- If services are canceled before 37 weeks, a partial refund may be available.
- After 37 weeks, the full balance is due unless otherwise agreed upon.
What's the next step if I decide to move forward?
If you'd like to move forward, the first step is completing the Client Intake Form, which helps me understand your preferences and ensure we're a good fit. After reviewing your intake form, I'll follow up with you about signing the **Doula Service Agreement** and scheduling your first prenatal visit.
